Index Initiative is a small but rapidly growing organization committed to creating positive change. After a period of extensive research and building partnerships, we are now ready for the next phase. In order to kick-start this phase, we are looking for 10 summer junior analysts. Are you a strong analytical thinker that is always looking for more insights on sustainable development? Read on, we might be looking for you!

During the summer, we will continue with in-depth desk research on the impact of businesses on sustainable development. This research will be used to create a background paper needed this fall for various stakeholder consultations that will take place during a series of roundtables around the world.

As one of our summer junior analysts, you are going to work on a very specific research assignment for 4 weeks, 4 or 5 days per week. The assignment will focus on analyzing how particular industries can contribute to achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals that were adopted by world leaders in 2015. You will do research on how particular industries can contribute to or hamper advancing the SDGs, focusing on the SDGs that are closest to an industry’s core business as this is where business can have its greatest impact and where solutions are more likely to be financially sustainable and scalable.

We will send you the assignment after reviewing your resume and short letter of motivation. You are free to work wherever and whenever you want, as long as it is in the Netherlands. In order to review quality and progress, we will meet up once or twice a week for a full day at an inspiring location near Utrecht.

This job takes tenacity, curiosity and strong analytical and research skills. In a group of like-minded students you will work on a wide array of topics and issues, ranging from human rights to internet access to food security, just to name a few. And not just that, you will also deep dive into lots of different industries.
